WWID - What Would I Do? Link to heading

WWID is a personalized application that allows you to reconcile your ideals with your practical statements. You may feel very strongly about certain values, however you may be contractiction yourself in actual statements that you make in public spaces and online media.

WWID allows you to see which specific things you say violate or contradict the principles you claim. It does so by allowing you to compile your own ideas and guiding principles into a kind of Bill of Rights or Ten Commandments. In some way you could think of WWID as your lawn sign. In This House We: and then a statement of principles.

The only judgement made are those you make. WWID simply prompts you. If you change your mind or decide to reprioritize or de-emphasize certain principles, you may declare these as ‘Epiphany Points’ in which a certain fact or change has influenced you significantly. WWID will help you explain this ahead of criticism you might receive.

WWID also allows you to share any very specific idea or fact about yourself with people of your choosing. This is a double opt-in basis. You cannot overshare if they don’t want to hear it. Also nobody can sneak this information about you without your knowing.

There will be multiple classes of questions that may respond to or ignore at your leisure. Categories range from the lighthearted to the deeply and profoundly personal. There are are true or false questions. There are also are open ended questions for which there is no right answer, only your answer. Some are very structured. For example you might choose between three philosophers on a specific area of interest.

First record you ever bought
Getaway by Earth Wind & Fire. It was a 45.
First film you saw that really moved you2001: A Space Odyssey. It was also the first big adult book I ever read.
Last lie you told“Hey, no problem. I know you’re busy.”
Does the artist’s identity or intention matter when interpreting a work of art?
Sartre (matters); Barthes (not important); Contemporary pluralists (both valid)
I agree with Barthes. The work of art is more important than the person. The Sistine Chapel is not beautiful because Michalangelo was a celebrity.
How do you balance being assertive and being accommodating?I hear out everyone and give a fair assessment of what I think would happen in each scenario. I respect the chain of command.
Have you ever fantasized about someone in a superior position to you?I’ve only had four female bosses. No. Hardly. Not Even. Yeah but she likes girls. Oh wait. My Choirmaster. And my college guidance counselor. Hmm. Got me.
Which is the most reliable path to knowledge: inherited wisdom, personal reasoning, or empirical science?,“Chesterton, Augustine (tradition); Kant, Spinoza, Socrates (reason); Popper, Locke, Marx (science)”I’m definitely with Popper. But I value wisdom over knowledge.
